The Psychology of Fetish

Hello dear reader,

I hope your day is full of joy and emotion. Sometimes, I don't always necessarily wish people have a joyful day. Sometimes, whats needed is a miserable day, or a day of sorrow, or a day of madness. Quite often I think the best days and the ones we will remember are the ones that are full of emotion. I'd rather a day fuelled with emotion than a day where I feel numb. Right? Whether it's nerves, excitement, bliss, anger. I feel like it reminds us that, that is what makes us human, all these emotions going through us. I think the difference is not to let our emotions consume us, rather to see them as acquaintances that come and go. Oh and to recognise them in the first place. Knowing your acquaintances name is important.

So how does this relate to the psychology of fetish? Well. Fetish could be described, in a way, as an emotion. Because if you are someone who has a fetish or knows someone with a fetish, there's likely an emotional attachment to the fetish. That could be shame, joy, bliss, comfort, obsession, lust. Essentially all and any emotion can be attached to a fetish. Because it is so deeply rooted in someone's psyche, usually from their past experiences.

So, if we see emotions as acquaintances, and we've maybe thought of the idea of fetish as a form of emotion, how can we then treat our fetish in a healthy way? Because we've all seen when people take it too far. Without naming examples, but people will go to great lengths, commit crimes, and ruin relationships in the pursuit of their fetish. So. We need to rewrite the script. Your fetish is a part of you, it's healthy if you treat it as such. If you allow it into your life without it consuming you, you will be able to enjoy it in a way that allows yourself to accept it. And there are plenty of people out there with the same desires that can help you explore it in a way that feels normal, and accepted.

If we treat emotions like acquaintances, they won't consume us. Same with fetish. There does need to be a healthy level of detachment from life at times. So that we can explore the other acquaintances in our life. It's not going anywhere, you can still find whatever emotions you do from your love of your fetish, embrace it! Because the more you name it, accept it, the more you will be able to find healthy ways of exploring it.

There are so many communities online where you can find like minded people to talk about it. One of the many reasons I wanted to create content focused around fetish was to celebrate the diverse range of sexual fantasies there are in the world. Shine a light on the niche desires people have. So they don't feel weird or alone. It's honestly surprising when I do (what I think to be) a very niche video that ends up selling loads! And it makes me smile because, quite often people will buy my videos but never actually utter a word to me. I'm hoping that they are enjoying their sexuality and seeing that I am just here to highlight the wonderful world of fetish (and have an amazing time too!)
